We invite you to a special evening inspired by the legends of queer cinema!
Get ready for an explosion of glamour, emotion, and iconic characters brought to life in bold new interpretations. This is a night dedicated to the heroes and heroines who broke boundaries, inspired generations, and left their mark on the history of queer cinematography.
👑 What is a Ball?
A Ball is a performative celebration of ballroom culture, where dance, fashion, and charisma come together. Participants compete in different categories for trophies, moving to the rhythms of vogue, house, and techno.
👑 Ballroom Culture
Ballroom culture was born out of the need for safety and community. Created in the 1960s and 70s by Black and Latinx trans women, it became a home for trans, queer, and BIPOC communities. Voguing, which flourished in the 1980s, is now one of its most recognizable symbols worldwide.
👑 Main theme: Iconic looks of queer cinema characters. Take inspiration from legendary queer film icons such as:
👑 Lola (Kinky Boots) – a charismatic drag queen breaking social conventions in red high-heeled boots and latex. The embodiment of cabaret glamour.
👑 Jules (Euforia) – an ethereal, bold, and experimental icon of youthful style. She blends girlish delicacy with a futuristic, club-inspired vibe: shiny tops, mini skirts, crop tops, sheer fabrics, and of course her iconic colorful makeup.
👑 Ennis Del Mar & Jack Twist (Brokeback Mountain) – two cowboys with their signature hats, denim, shirts, and jackets. A raw, masculine, and iconic style.
👑 Elektra (Pose) – a Femme Queen, a dominant ballroom queen. Luxury, furs, gold, dramatic gowns — the ultimate diva.
👑 Lestat (Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles) – a queer vampire icon: 18th-century shirts, ruffles, long hair, and aristocratic drama.
👑 Lili Elbe (The Danish Girl) – a transgender woman from the 1920s. Delicate dresses, hats, period style, and subtle femininity.
👑 Ludo (Ma vie en rose) – discovering their gender identity. 90s aesthetics, colorful girlish dresses, wigs, a pastel, dreamy style, and a veil.
👑 Do you have your own film inspiration? Create a look inspired by your favorite queer cinematic theme. Join us and celebrate queer culture in all its glamour and creativity! We encourage everyone to dress according to the event’s theme — the more spectacular, the better!
