On the Road (En el camino)
On the highways of northern Mexico, everything comes at a price – especially intimacy. Veneno, a young drifter with a knack for getting into trouble, drifts from one roadside bar to another, sleeping with truck drivers in exchange for a bed or a lift. When he encounters the silent, tough trucker Muñeco, a journey begins deep into the brutally masculine world of long-haul trucking.
Amid miles of asphalt, smuggled drugs, and nights spent at truck stops, a tension grows that neither man can ignore. Director David Pablos delivers a queer road movie with grit under its nails and its heart on display: erotic, unsettling, and emotionally merciless. It is a fantasy of freedom on the open road that collides with violence, addiction, and trauma, chasing the protagonists faster than the next stretch of highway.
As Veneno’s secrets come to light, the journey turns into a desperate flight, and the intimacy between the men becomes both a refuge and a curse.
Produced by acclaimed Mexican actor and filmmaker Diego Luna, known for roles in “Frida”, “Nicotina”, “Y Tu Mamá También”, “Terminal”, and “Before Night Falls”, one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Latin American cinema.
