Flamingo Camp

In the heart of society’s desert margins, a dream of freedom takes shape: a queer, nomadic community striving to create a safe haven for the excluded. In the legendary, semi-wild town of Slab City, young anarchist queer and trans residents build Flamingo Camp – a place of solidarity, friendship and respite from the violence of the outside world. Yet summer heat and the departure of the community’s leader expose the fragility of this utopia. Tragedy strikes, tearing the community apart from within.

This is a film about the longing for home, love and belonging, but also about the shadow of exclusion that refuses to be forgotten. Moving, raw and hypnotically beautiful.
