Filibus
More than a hundred years before the era of superheroines and non-normative screen icons, Filibus burst onto the screen – a thief, master of disguise and airborne pirate with her own dirigible. This Italian film from 1915 is pure steampunk delirium: a sparkling crime caper, a feminist fantasy and a queer play of identities all in one. Filibus robs the rich, vanishes into the clouds and effortlessly shifts roles – from aristocratic lady to elegant count – flirting and manipulating her way past the police.
At our screening, the story of this audacious queen of the skies will come even more vividly to life thanks to live narration by two performers, who will guide the audience through this camp, wildly modern world from over a century ago.
Get ready for anarchy, glitter and high-flying adventure!
