Clue
Have you ever played the board game Cluedo? And did you know that its film adaptation was already made 40 years ago?
Six strangers are invited to a mansion, where they are greeted only by a butler and a maid. To remain anonymous, they are given the pseudonyms known from the game, along with the murder weapons. Before long, bodies begin to pile up. Who is killing, and why?
The film is a madcap, camp comedy featuring brilliantly exaggerated performances and a wealth of unforgettable lines. Tim Curry (the unforgettable Dr Frank-N-Furter from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”) shines as the scheming butler, while Madeline Kahn’s improvisations have secured her a lasting place in queer cultural memory (her lines are regularly quoted by the drag queen Katya, among others). Add to that a guest who is very much still in the closet, and you have a full-blooded queer whodunnit.
