Lesbos (Lesvia)
On the sun-bathed, picturesque island of Lesbos, queer history is intertwined with myth and reality. It is here, in Eressos – the birthplace of Safona – that lesbians from all over the world have been building their own space of freedom for decades. But what happens when paradise on earth becomes a battleground over who has the right to call themselves a lesbian? The director, who was herself born on the island, looks at decades of love, rebellion and misunderstanding with intimate sensitivity, weaving personal memories with archive footage. This is not just a documentary but a manifestation of women’s power – a passionate story of how a community is born, full of humour and longing.
