Gondola
Does love need words? In Veit Helmer’s latest film, the answer seems to be no. In a picturesque corner of the Georgian countryside, where a cable car connects a town in a valley with a village at the top, a romantic story is revealed.
The heroines, who work on the cable car, meet halfway along the route as their carriages pass each other in mid-air. There, a subtle flirtation is born between them, which gradually develops into something more. This wordless narrative’s playfulness, simplicity and charm transport you to a fairytale world where time passes more slowly and the magic of everyday moments takes on a unique meaning.
‘Gondola’ mesmerises with an eccentric sense of humour and a calm rhythm that allows you to see the beauty in every gesture and glance. It is an extraordinary cinematic experience where silence speaks more than words.
