The Blue Caftan (Le bleu du caftan)
Mina and Halim, a long-term married couple, run a small tailoring business in Sala, Morocco. Very famous for his talent, especially for traditional embrodiery technique, Halim is starting to become overwhelmed with work. Also the time of order’s realization is extending for weeks. This situation forces the couple to employ an additional worker. The presence of Youssef, a young apprentice (played by palestinian actor Saleh Bakri, who created one of the most beautiful male creations in cinema of last years) brings the long-hided mistrust and desire.
The Blue Caftan is touching story, and full of typical Morocco’s flavor and colors. Tunisian female director Maryam Touzani portraits her characters with gentleness and subtlety, focusing on details, gestures and looks.
