Before I Change My Mind
”Who are you? A boy or a girl?” is a question that Trevor Anderson, director of “Before I Change My Mind”, knows well from his own experience. Robin, the main character of this story, prefers to sidetrack others from this issue. No one here refers to Robin exactly as “he”, “she” or “it”; biological sex is not primary here. What matters is the experience of a person featured on the screen, and these aren’t easy, as often among teenagers, let alone the non-normative ones.
The 80s, with its stunning fashion and music, are the background for the ostensible outsider, who creates a strange bond with a school troublemaker and bully. Making risky choices to fit in, Robin has to answer themself a question, what really matters.
