Anima – My Father’s Dresses (Anima: Die Kleider meines Vaters)
”It’s dangerous to keep family secrets for yourself because they continue to have an effect on generation after generation.”
Raised in Bavaria, Uli Decker wanted to become a pirate or pope. She didn’t suppose though, that she knows someone who is completely different than they seem to be. After her father ́s death, her mother hands over his diary and “secret” box to her as an inheritance. Its content rapidly changes Uli’s opinion of closest and loved ones, but also about the society she grew up in.
”Anima” is a documental, partially animated rollercoaster ride, that tells us about the turmoil that can be caused by love, as well as by gender identity.
