Leevi, a Finnish boy studying abroad, comes back home for summer break to help his father renovate the family lake house. Tareq, a Syrian refugee, has also been hired to help. When the boys are left alone working side by side, they are quickly attracted to each other. They start to explore each other’s bodies and desires. “The Moment in the Reeds” is one of the first queer-themed feature films made in Finland. This intimate drama portraits sexual and ethnic minorities in their need of liberty, acceptance and a place they can call “home”.
