Amos Guttman – memorial
A retrospective of Amos Guttman’s work. The producer was born in Transylvania, Georgia. At the age of 7 he moved to Israel, where later on he studied cinema in Beit Zvi.
In his not-so-long life (he died at the age of 39) he directed 4 feature and 3 short-feature films. He belonged to the group of Israeli film directors, who were the proponents of keeping the aesthetic values at the expense of its commercial distribution later on. His films were characteristic because of the way they connect the melancholy of picture and sound, distinctive way of selecting themes, distinct sensibility of rendering the subject. Amos Guttman’s work has never been presented in Poland.
