Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat and an associate of The Refugee Board in the period between July 1944 and January 1945 was saving Jews in Budapest. He was arrested by the Soviet Military Services on January 17, 1945, and imprisoned in Moscow. Next, he was transferred to other Soviet prisons. He never left.
